1.1 What is semantic?

-In lingusitic ,semantic is the subfield that is devoted to the study of meaning, as inherent at the levels of words, phases , sentences ,and larger units of discourse.

But there is a pejorative sense of the term = the way that a language can be manipulated in order to mislead the people using a pure verbal quibble bearing no relationship to anything in the real world.
